Description

The Production Artist will create figures, diagrams, and infographics to support our construction craft training curriculum. This entry-level role is perfect for someone who loves technical illustrations and is savvy in the Adobe Creative Suite. You will be part the Product Development, which includes writers, editors, layout specialists, technical illustrators, and project managers.


NCCER is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and creative Production Artist with a passion in educational content and creating technical illustrations. As a Production Artist at NCCER, your skills and talents will help us develop materials used around the world to train construction craft professionals at high schools, vocational schools, colleges, and construction training centers.

Major Duties: 


Assists the Art and Design team in creating a variety of graphics related to curriculum development, including:

  1. Creating and adjusting line art, illustrations, and photos to adhere to NCCER specifications.
  2. Updating existing illustrations and graphics to adhere to NCCER's current styles and specifications.
  3. Conduct quality assurance and accessibility reviews on artwork to confirm compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards, guaranteeing inclusivity and high-quality standards.
  4. Working within established processes and workflows to ensure efficient art creation and updates, including incorporating feedback from technical writers and editors.
  5. Collaborating cross-functionally with other members of the Product Development team and other departments within the organization.
  6. Other duties as assigned; as this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee.

Requirements

  • Degree in Graphic Design or related field
  • Working knowledge of print and digital production requirements (image size and resolution, color space, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in detail oriented and deadline-driven environment
  • Must be able to work under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities and new workflows
  • Positive can-do attitude

Software Skills:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required, including but not limited to Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and InDesign
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
  • Proficiency with common workplace applications required (i.e., Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint, Zoom, etc.)
  • Experience with Aprimo or another Digital Asset Management system preferred
  • Experience with Smartsheet preferred
