Job description

Job Summary: 
The Product/Purchasing Assistant will work with our growing Logistical Operations Department and report to the Product Manager. 
This is an entry level position that will work on both product and purchasing projects and job duties. 


Responsibilities: 
     • Reviewing and analyzing product category sales to optimize product assortment.
     • Work to help build and maintain relationships with current vendor base and new vendors.
     • Prepare and keep all product parameters current.
     • Receive and analyze internal product request.
     • Continuously research new innovate products and product concepts.
     • Work closely with Lead Buyer and Product Manager to develop and implement new products.
     • Assist in following up on Purchase Orders.
     • Communication:
          o Works directly with Purchasing, Product and Operations Management Team.
          o Frequent contact with Warehouse Manager and Branch Personnel.
     • Administrative Duties:
          o Request product samples from vendors as needed.
          o Work with management to create, set up and maintain vendor files.
          o Request Return Goods Authorizations for non-moving stock and defective items.
          o Perform cost comparisons with directive.
          o Maintain and update price files.
     • Data Entry:
          o Assist the Operations Manager, Product Manager and Inventory Control Manager in completing tasks as assigned.
          o Provide High Service Levels while managing product assortment to meet company goals.
     • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
     • Working knowledge of plumbing wholesale operations and plumbing products is a plus.
     • Purchasing experience helpful but not required.
     • Strong ability to use Excel, Outlook, and SAP.
     • Strong planning, organizational and time management skills.
     • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
     • Ability to work independently with a high level of motivation and self-direction.
     • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
     • Strong attention to detail.
     • Ability to handle a high volume of internal and external emails.
     • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
     • Desire and interest to learn about goods we sell.
     • Must have a positive attitude, self-motivated, goal oriented and dependable.
     • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and challenges.

Pay: $17 - $20 an hour
