Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Entry Level Environmental Engineer for employment within our Environmental group in our Kenova, West Virginia office to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects.  The ideal candidate will be willing and able to learn new skills and methods on challenging field and office assignments in a collaborative team environment.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.

Tasks will include:

  • Conducting environmental field work, including collecting soil, groundwater, and remediation system data, groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging and oversight of subcontractors.
  • Support routine operation and maintenance (O&M) of remediation systems, including pumps, blowers, and treatment units.
  • Producing accurate and complete documentation of operation, inspections, and compliance.
  • Preparing field documents, and collecting, processing and interpreting field data.
  • Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation.
  • Interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, comparing findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance
  • Traveling to project locations including driving and overnight stays.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. 
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test.
  • Candidate will submit to medical surveillance screening upon hire.
  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HAZWOPER 40 Hour Training.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word,. PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Proficient with AutoCAD
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling practices.
