Job description

R. J. Corman Switching Company is hiring Mechanical Team Members to join our growing team in Prichard, WV.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform railcar inspections to identify defects.
  • Perform railcar repairs per AAR standards.
  • Track and document repairs as required.
  • Ensure that vehicles and shops kept clean & safe.
  • Ensure that the employees are working in a safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements:
  • Railcar Mechanical experience preferred.
  • Welding and oxygen/acetylene torching experience a plus.
  • General knowledge of hydraulic and power tools.
  • Must have good communication and people skills with demonstrated ability to develop team work and work with all levels of personnel in achieving our goals.

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to perform physical strenuous work.
  • Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner.
  • Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary.

Environmental Conditions: Performs duties in outside environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles, and equipment. Frequent exposure to weather elements. Appropriate PPE required.
