Department Overview
The Global Digital Signal Processing Software department is responsible for architecting, designing and developing real-time software for digital communications and audio for Motorola Solutions worldwide portfolio two-way radio products.
The team is responsible for delivering Audio and RF Signal Processing Software and has ownership of all Applications Processor DSP subsystems, including Audio Management.
Job Description
  • Design and develop cutting edge real-time software for DSP algorithms and Low Level device drivers to be used in wireless products.
  • Work in a global environment - teams in 3 continents - to develop software algorithms that will be used in all Motorola public safety wireless products globally.
  • Work on cutting edge real time processors and use new software tools to develop real-time software.
  • Development phases include requirements capture, design, implementation and test. These phases will be conducted with mature software development processes. Specific responsibilities are listed below:
  • Assist technical leaders in gathering requirements for features from multiple product teams.
  • Develop and/or implement DSP algorithms for wireless protocols.
  • Design and develop fixed point DSP software on various target processors.
  • Design and implement optimization techniques for improving algorithm performance.
  • Tune algorithms to meet strict real-time performance requirements.
  • Optimize memory usage of algorithms.
  • Design and implement device driver and peripheral drivers to meet strict protocol timing requirements
  • Strong ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies in a short time
  • Able to work effectively in a distributed team environment
  • Entry Level Position, fresh graduates may apply

Desired Skills
  • Exposure to DSP and low level software development on embedded targets.
  • C, C++ and Software engineering
  • Operating Systems exposure (academic or otherwise) is desirable.
  • Academic grounding in DSP and Digital communications.
  • Assembly language programming experience on any embedded target is desirable.
  • Ability to work well in teams is necessary.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Additional Requirements
  • Experience with Qualcomm Audio & aDSP solutions.
  • Experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Experience with DSP or ARM-based microprocessor architectures.
  • Experience with wireless device to device communication standards (Bluetooth, BLE, NFC, WiFi, ProSe) is a plus.
  • Experience/knowledge in software development tools (e.g. GIT, JIRA...), testing, process (Agile, Kanban) and configuration management.
