Position Overview:
The Associate Electrical Engineer at Motiva's Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex supports the reliability, safety, and performance of refinery electrical systems, including power distribution networks, motor control centers, and automation systems. This entry-level role works closely with experienced engineers to assist with maintenance, small capital projects, troubleshooting, risk assessments, and operational support while developing specialized expertise in industrial electrical power systems. The position helps ensure compliance with HSSE standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices to improve production efficiency, reduce downtime, and support safe refinery operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the design, maintenance, and optimization of refinery electrical equipment and power distribution systems.
  • Support electrical engineering activities for routine operations, reactive maintenance, and unplanned work.
  • Contribute to small capital and expense projects, including design implementation, cost estimation, and scheduling support.
  • Help troubleshoot electrical system issues to improve reliability, efficiency, and equipment performance.
  • Participate in equipment, system, and process risk assessments to identify and mitigate operational hazards.
  • Support turnaround planning, scope development, and execution activities for refinery electrical systems.
  • Assist with documenting electrical system configurations, operating procedures, and troubleshooting practices.
  • Collaborate with senior electrical engineers to develop technical knowledge of industrial power systems and automation controls.
  • Participate in HSSE initiatives, incident investigations, and compliance activities to maintain a safe work environment.

Experience and Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering by May 2026
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA, or higher
