About Ara Energy

Ara Energy is an energy investment platform focused on biofuels, power generation, and fuel logistics and distribution and was founded in 2024 as a partnership between Ara Partners and the Haslam family office (“HF Capital”). The Haslam family are a long-term energy investors and the former majority owners of Pilot Travel Centers (“Pilot”). After the sale of Pilot to Berkshire Hathaway in 2023, HF Capital helped establish this new energy investment platform.

Ara Energy is led by the former CEO of Pilot, Shameek Konar, and key members of his leadership team. About the Role

The Associate will be responsible for providing support to senior team members in evaluating, executing, and managing investments. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial analysis and modelling for potential and current investments
  • Participation in all aspects of due diligence for potential investments
  • Development of presentation materials for Investment Committee and other uses
  • Interaction with the managers and teams at Ara Energy’s portfolio companies
  • Quarterly reporting including investment write-ups and valuations
  • Succinct communication of ideas and feedback in both written and verbal form

What We Are Looking For

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience involving quantitative financial analysis and modelling and experience working in energy and commodity sectors
  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic, who can interact collaboratively in a team environment but operate independently as required
  • Track record of academic success
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically at a detailed level, interpreting information and data and providing relevant conclusions/recommendations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and through written materials
  • Intellectually curiosity with a commitment to continuous learning
