JOB PURPOSE:
Working under the supervision of the physician and reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Clinical Aide provides excellent patient care, customer service, and administrative support to help ensure efficient clinic operations.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical Duties
  • Performs a variety of care interventions and medical procedures as permitted and supervised by the physician, within the designated scope of practice.
  • Setting up and assisting with minor surgical procedures
  • Assisting with cast applications and removals
  • Administration of injections and vaccinations
  • Setting up room and preparing patient for complete medical examinations
  • Use of a glucometer
  • Perform urinalysis using dipsticks
  • Perform pregnancy test using OTC media
  • Suturing of minor wounds
  • Applying dressings, tensors, splints, and slings
  • Removal of sutures and staples
  • Ear flushing
  • Starting oxygen therapy under physician orders
  • Taking & recording vital signs, heights, weights, visual acuities
  • Assembling & maintaining required sterile equipment & supplies
  • Assisting with pelvic examinations and IUD procedures
  • Maintaining orderly storage and disposal of clinic supplies
  • Follows standards of cleanliness and safety
Customer Service and Administrative Duties
  • Greeting and registering and rooming patients
  • Accurately charting any medical procedures or interventions performed, in the patient chart
  • Scheduling and notifying patients of appointments
  • Scanning patient documents as required
  • Opening mail, receiving faxes and distributing appropriately
  • Completing daily, weekly and monthly chore lists
  • Understands physician profiles and executes on requests in order to properly support physicians
  • Actively participates in company initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A medical degree from a school of medicine listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools
  • Successful completion of the MCCEE (Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination) or MCCQE (Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination)
  • Experience with EMR (Med Access, CHR, Accuro) software
  • Excellent communication, listening and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent clinical and customer service and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information in compliance with the relevant provincial privacy legislation
  • Computer skills including Excel and word are an asset
  • CPR – Health Care Provider BLS is required.
