Job description

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to join our South Florida team in the Coral Gables, Hollywood or Boca Raton offices. This is a hybrid role (3 days in office, 2 remote). This individual would provide electrical engineering and design for water and wastewater facility projects, serving as lead electrical engineer when required. The ideal candidate will be experienced in power design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, generator design, motor control, VFDs, lighting systems, equipment layout, and related activities. We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, including interaction with other engineers, clients, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Power design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, generator design, motor control, VFDs, lighting systems, equipment layout and related activities. 
  • Knowledge of the NEC and related Codes.  
  • Serve as electrical engineer on projects for water and wastewater facilities.
  • Supervision of less experienced staff working on projects, and interaction with clients and engineers from other disciplines. 
  • Candidate will serve as a technical mentor for less experienced staff in local offices.
  • Engage in Business Development activities such as proposal preparation and fee/scope development. 
  • Fill the role of Project Manager for selected Electrical projects.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • 7-15 years of experience in electrical engineering and design
  • Professional Engineering License 
  • AutoCAD experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience in water/wastewater industry
  • Revit BIM software and SKM and/or ETAP power systems software skills
  • Experience with instrumentation and control systems is a plus, including field and panel instruments, operator interfaces, and PLCs
