Crown is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the Advanced Energy Group’s charging system development efforts. This role provides engineering expertise in how charging systems operate over a wide spectrum of applications and environments to advance the usability, reliability, efficiency and productivity of electrified material handling equipment fleets. Conceive, develop and evaluate system architecture concepts, system functional and performance requirements, electrical and digital communication interfaces, software controls, and models to estimate installed charging network capabilities. This role will also define and execute charging system test programs and data analysis workflows. This position plays a central role in defining how charging systems are specified, validated, and integrated into Crown products.

  • Propose system concepts and specifications to meet a given set of product requirements
  • Monitor and comprehend competitive products & emerging technologies within requirements
  • Plan and manage development tasks, schedules, design reviews, and risk assessments
  • Develop system concepts into functional prototype(s)
  • Model vehicle functions using modeling tools and generate functional software
  • Model charging system performance and capabilities in support of design and sales activities
  • Perform analysis of system to ensure performance goals are met, integrity of design is maintained, and design conforms to Company and industry standards
  • Participate in risk assessments and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs)
  • Design test procedures and programs to evaluate system design integrity and performance
  • Properly document the system design, the design process, and the results of design evaluation, and communicate this information for critical review and decision making
  • Define and implement workflows to automate development, testing and data analysis tasks
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, suppliers, and customers to ensure successful product launch
  • Provide systems engineering support to related products such as batteries and battery/truck integration

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering, or related field
  • 0-2 years of experience developing industrial charging systems
  • Exposure to AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion systems and high‑frequency chargers
  • Exposure to modeling and simulation tools for system design and analysis
  • Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to occasionally travel with overnight stays (0-5%)
  • Reliable transportation to travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience developing industrial charging systems
  • Experience with AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion systems and high‑frequency chargers
  • Skilled in using Matlab, Simulink and Vector tools in product development programs
  • Hands-on experience with bidirectional power sources and loads
  • Experience with task management and version control software, ideally Jira, Confluence, GitHub
