Chance Aluminum, based in Williamsport, PA, focuses on aluminum production as the domestic supplier for AA Metals, a Florida-based master distributor with global operations in the United States, Columbia, Turkey, and China. We are a safety focused, industrial manufacturing facility looking to expand our team of dedicated, goal-driven individuals.
We have an immediate opportunity for a Quality Technologist/Lab Assistant at our Williamsport facility. We're looking for a results-oriented professional with an exemplary track record of success in safety and collaboration to join our team.
Quality Technologist/Lab Assistant Overview:
The Quality Technologist/Lab Assistant at Chance Aluminum will be responsible for monitoring, testing, and analyzing production materials and processes to ensure compliance with internal specifications and industry standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product quality, reducing waste, and supporting continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant.

Quality Technologist/Lab Assistant Essential Responsibilities:
  • Perform quality inspections and laboratory tests on incoming materials, in-process products, and final goods.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, tensile testers, etc.) to ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • Document inspection results, test data, and deviations accurately in accordance with quality system procedures.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) efforts for quality issues.
  • Assist with calibration and maintenance of quality lab equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve quality concerns.
  • Identify trends in product quality data and recommend process improvements.
  • Conduct sampling and statistical analysis to support process control and product verification.
  • Enforce company and industry standards for quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Support training efforts for operators and technicians on quality standards and inspection techniques.
  • Participate in internal audits and contribute to ISO or other certification compliance efforts.
Quality Technologist/Lab Assistant Qualifications: Required:
  • Associate degree in Quality, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or quality control environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality control procedures, inspection methods, and documentation practices.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and sampling plans.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
Preferred:
  • Experience in the aluminum, metals, or heavy industrial sector
  • Certification in Quality Technology (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Technician or similar)
  • OSHA 30 certification
Physical Requirements:
  • Tolerance for high-heat work environments and physically demanding tasks.
  • Must be able to stand, climb, bend, and reach throughout an 8-12-hour shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
