Job Title: Slitter Operator – Steel Warehouse
Shift: First Shift (5:00 AM – 1:30 PM, Monday – Friday; occasional Saturdays as needed)
Pay Rate: Starting at $18.00 per hour (based on experience)
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Slitter Operator to join our production team. This is not an entry-level role—candidates must have prior hands-on experience operating slitting equipment in a steel environment. This position plays a key role in maintaining production quality, efficiency, and safety, and requires someone who can take ownership of their shift and lead by example.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor slitting equipment with minimal supervision

  • Serve as Team Leader for shift operations, ensuring productivity and safety standards are met

  • Review and interpret work orders to ensure all specifications and requirements are followed

  • Verify materials, measurements, and customer specifications before and during production

  • Identify and address steel defects to maintain high-quality output

  • Monitor machine performance and material flow throughout the slitting process

  • Take and upload job-related photos and maintain accurate production records

  • Perform operational audits and ensure compliance with company procedures

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment

  • Ensure measurement tools are verified daily and used accurately

  • Oversee proper disposal of scrap and waste materials

  • Ensure all work instructions are completed, signed off, and up to date

Requirements:

  • Proven experience operating slitting machines in a steel or metals environment

  • Strong understanding of steel properties and ability to identify material defects

  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform decimal-to-inch conversions accurately

  • Experience working with heavy machinery in a production setting
