Salary: The budgeted salary rate for this position is $133,000 - $155,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
About the University of Illinois Chicago Retzky College of Pharmacy TheUIC Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice, is seeking afull-time, motivated professional for the position of Clinical Faculty (OpenRank)/Clinical Pharmacist who will be assigned to UI Health's Liver service.
Theideal candidate will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to inpatientson the Liver service, including patients with end-stage liver disease, acuteliver injury, and those pre- and post-liver transplantation. The hospital is a 450-bed academicinstitution located approximately 2 miles west of downtown Chicago. Thehospital serves an urban, indigent patient population.

Duties:The Liver clinical pharmacist is an integralmember of the multidisciplinary team in the hospital and clinics. The Clinical Pharmacist'sduties include attending daily rounds, medication review and reconciliation, identifyingmedication-related problems, medication selection and dosing recommendations, TPNmanagement, therapeutic drug monitoring, provision of drug information, patienteducation, and attending rapid response team calls. The liver clinicalpharmacist participates in solid organ transplant immunosuppression managementand in the evaluation of patients for candidacy for liver transplant listing. Theclinical pharmacist will also be responsible for nurse, physician, and pharmacystaff development; coordinating and conducting quality initiative projects; anddeveloping collaborative treatment and research protocols.
The academicresponsibilities of the clinical faculty member (ClinicalAssistant/Associate/Full Professor) include the provision of didacticlectures and precepting entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents,and PGY2 residents. Scholarly activities, including presentations andpublications, are an expectation as well. Academic rank commensurate withexperience.
Qualifications:- PharmD and PGY1 residency experience required.
- PGY2 residency in solid organ transplantation required (or equivalent experience).
- Candidates must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist at time of employment.
- Highly preferred: strong clinical knowledge base; analytical and problem-solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines; demonstrate flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment; excellent planning, time management and organizational skills. Board certification is highly recommended.
