This position contributes knowledge of pharmacy practice, safe medication use, clinical decision making, and an understanding of health information technology to guide and lead in the design, usability, and optimization of the medication management within the electronic health record, medication alerts and decision support, automated dispensing cabinets and integrated smart pumps. This role is instrumental to safe medication strategy related projects ensuring data quality, best practices, and avoiding medication related harm. Collaborates with healthcare executives, providers, pharmacists, nurses and other key stakeholders to improve multifaceted workflows and to implement efficient technology solutions that improve patient safety and end user experience. This role will work closely with the informatics leadership, pharmacy leadership, nursing, IS applications, quality, business intelligence, clinical decision support teams and other healthcare professionals.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy and Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy Required
  • PharmD Preferred
Work Experience
  • 3 years of experience working in a healthcare setting Required
  • Experience with pharmacy applications and/or pharmacy informatics, EHR, data and reporting Preferred
  • Experience with Epic EHR Preferred
  • Experience working on patient safety initiatives related to pharmacy/EMR Required
  • Strong medication and pharmacy operations knowledge, including ordering, dispensing, administration, and diversion workflows. Required
  • Experience working on patient safety initiatives related to pharmacy/EMR. Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current licensure as a registered pharmacist Upon Hire Required
  • Epic certification be successfully obtained 90 days after completion of last class Required
