Job description

MRI Technologist

This entry-level position works to achieve the initial competencies required to deliver specialized radiologic technology services to pediatric patient populations. The objective is to aid medical staff in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of conditions, defects, and diseases. Provides safe, high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient-centric care and support services under routine or emergent conditions in a variety of settings. Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with procedures ordered by physicians. Communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the care team to achieve desired clinical outcomes, operational goals, and service expectations. Utilizes highly specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic and interventional procedures. Conducts post-procedure reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed and documented. Transfers images and data to the appropriate archival systems and prepares studies for reporting by physicians. Performs quality control checks and user maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines. Participates in continuing education, professional development, and research activities to maintain competencies and promote continuous improvements in care and treatments. Skills in applying principles of radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, and medical ethics are essential. Ability to work as part of a team, follow instructions, and consistently report to work as scheduled is required. Must be sensitive to patients' physical and psychological needs while maintaining accurate records. Demonstrates discretion in handling confidential information and sound judgment in decision-making. Multi-tasking and remaining calm in stressful situations are necessary. Core knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology related to radiologic technologies is required. Ability and skill to apply primary specialty theory and practices under general supervision or assistance are necessary.
