IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering New Graduate in Missoula, MT. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow yourexpertisefrom day one. You willassistwith engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, and site drainage and grading design while learning the civil engineering trade.

You will support project planning and scheduling, document design decisions, and work within project budgets while collaborating with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams. Based in Missoula, this role supports land development and transportation work for county and city clients, helping deliver resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You'll Do

  • Perform basic calculations such as hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, piling or rebar calculations, and calculations to balance site earthwork

  • Assistwith water and sewer system design for smaller private and larger municipal systems

  • Assistwith grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans

  • Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively

  • Support consulting project execution by working as part of a project team andassistingwith project planning and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives

  • Document design decisions and client instructions whilemonitoringproject design progress

  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions

  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industrystandardsand client requirements

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG

  • Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance, interpret state and local design criteria, and apply it to the specific project needs

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals

What You'll Bring

Required

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic skills or knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3Dsoftware and the ability to complete AutoCAD training sessions as quickly as possible

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Preferred

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) License preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds

  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull

  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises

  • Transportation, bridge inspection, surveying, and water-resources experience

  • Hydraulics, stormwater, and municipal engineering for county and city clients

  • Environmental permitting and utility coordination across the region

  • Recent work includes Grants Meadows O&M, Housing; Peak Water System O&M, Commercial; and Watson Water System O&M, Corporate/Workplace
