Job description

Volume Transportation Inc. is hiring CDL A OTR Hopper Bottom Drivers in Lafayette, LA. Drivers will be hauling carbon black powder for dedicated customers in 53 ft hopper bottom trailers primarily in the south, no further west than TX. Volume is a major carrier of carbon black powder in the US and a leader in the transportation industry for 30+ years! Volume focuses on safety, compliance, and productivity offering focused pay and benefit packages. Come join the family at Volume Transportation!

Compensation

  • Average annual pay: $80,000 to $90,000
    • Base 52 CPM
    • Average of 3,000 miles weekly
    • Paid loaded and empty miles
    • Paid $13 per hour while on duty not driving
  • Bonuses:
    • Referral Bonus: $2,500 paid as monthly increments after 30 days employed
    • Border crossing bonus: $60 paid for each border crossing (for drivers able & willing to go to Canada)
    • CPM bonus: Drivers who are safe, compliant, and productive are eligible to earn a CPM increase every 6 months
  • Paid via direct deposit weekly

Home Time, Route, & Schedule

  • Home Time: 3-4 days for every 10-14 days out
  • Schedule: Will work with drivers
  • Route: Primarily southern states between Texas and the Carolinas
    • No further north than southern IL except for drivers able & willing to go to Canada
  • Level of Touch: No touch freight, 80% drop & hook

Equipment

  • Late Model International & Kenworth Trucks
  • All trucks are automatic
  • Governed speed: 70 mph
  • ELD equipped using Motive system
  • Outward facing camera
  • Amenities: Refrigerator and inverter

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 23 years of age
  • Must have valid Class A CDL
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years verifiable Class A CDL experience
  • Having a passport is not required but a plus with great earning potential
  • No DUI/DWI, unlawful BAC, open container or refusal to test within past 5 years
  • No more than 3 moving violations, 2 preventable accidents, or any safety related suspensions within the past 3 years
  • Felonies within the last 7 years will be reviewed on a case by case basis
  • No controlled substance events within the past 7 years
  • Must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) testing and physical requirements and be knowledgeable of DOT regulations
  • Must be able to pass a required pre-employment drug screen
  • Hiring Radius: Drivers must live within 100 miles of Lafayette, LA
