Department Overview:
Mathnasium is a national after school math only learning center. All tutoring is done on site at one of our three Madison area Learning Centers. Our west side Center is located at 701 N High Point Rd. Madison, the east side location is located at 5546 Eastpark Blv., Madison and we have a location in Verona - 220 Keenan Ct Verona. The west side Center is on the Madison bus route and is a 12 minute drive from campus. The east side location is a 15 minute drive from campus. Verona is a 20 minute drive from campus.

Schedule:
Tutors are needed for in person instruction Mondays thru Friday - 3:30m to 8:00pm and Sundays - 12:30pm to 4:30pm. Tutors can selectively choose the days / times that work best for thier individual schedules. Tutors working Mondays thru Fridays must be able to get to the Center or start online by 4:30pm.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Details / requirements of the position:
  • Tutors should have a background and or strong interest in math and or teaching / tutoring....math, engineering, business, computer science, and education majors wanted
  • Mathnasium works with students from the 1st thru 12th grades. Student's math skills are widely varied, ranging from a couple of years behind grade level to advanced students working above grade level. Instructors should enjoy working with being around children/students.
  • Mathnasium students work from a planned customized Mathnasium curriculum generated from the results of each student's Mathnasium Math Skills Assessment. Assessments are designed to produce appropriately challenging learning plans for each student. Mathnasium tutors do not have to develop student learning plans or methods of presenting subject matter - Mathnasium does that in a preplanned and structured curriculum. Tutor's focus on presenting the Mathnasium curriculum and adding context.
  • Tutors work in teams - generally three tutors working with groups of 7 to 9 students
  • In person tutors are needed at one of our three area locations (west side, east side and Verona).
  • The Madison Mathnasium Learning Centers have successfully supported over 5,000 students in our 10 years of operating in Madison. There are two primary reasons for our growth; 1) our system works, Mathnasium students demonstrably improve their math skills, 2) we have outstanding tutors. The majority of these tutors are current UW Madison students. We are interested in hiring tutors that have the flexibility and maturity to simultaneously manage their studies, social activities and a serious part-time job
