THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on applying your professional geologic knowledge and environmental management expertise to certain aspects of the Game Commission's Oil/Gas & Mineral (OGM) Recovery program. As a Licensed Professional Geologist, you will perform the following duties:
  • Field Inspections: Conduct on-site reviews of coal and mineral operations to identify concerns that may affect wildlife or habitats
  • Permit Reviews: Evaluate mining applications and provide recommendations that support environmental protection goals
  • Data Analysis: Use geologic and hydrologic information to assess impacts and guide decisions about resource development
  • Project Management: Coordinate reclamation and drainage treatment projects that improve or restore natural areas
  • Regulatory Coordination: Work with agencies and partners to ensure compliance with environmental rules and conservation priorities
  • Technical Reporting: Prepare clear scientific reports that communicate findings, conclusions, and key environmental insights

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 45-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Telework is not permitted during the initial six-month probationary period; eligibility may be granted upon its successful completion. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
  • This position requires possession of an active license as a professional geologist issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
