Job Overview:  

The Journeyman 1 Pipefitter is responsible for independently executing the installation and alignment of all standard industrial piping, ensuring dimensional and quality compliance prior to welding. This role works independently on routine spool installation packages.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • NCCER Knowledge Verification + 2 years of experience OR a total of 3 years of experience is required
  • Must successfully pass applicable written and practical craft test as part of the selection process.
  • Proven proficiency in precision fitting, alignment, and securement of piping systems
  • Strong ability to read and interpret all piping-related construction drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Experience with hydraulic torque wrench operation
  • Training in small bore tubing installation and bending

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Independently lay out, fabricate, and install pipe runs and spools based on isometric and construction drawings
  • Accurately measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe (e.g., small bore pipe and tubing) as required
  • Ensure all pipe alignment, gap, and high-low conditions meet ASME B31.3 and project welding specifications
  • Calculate and determine complex pipe geometry (e.g., rolling offsets) using mathematical formulas and fitting instruments
  • Conduct and document dimensional checks on installed piping to ensure it meets tolerance requirements
