Today, the hospital is a 1,101-bed major academic and referral center withLevel I adult traumaandLevel II pediatric traumadesignations. Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital has 43 residency and fellowship programs with 454 residents and fellows. Corewell is the exclusive clinical partner of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, with more than 1,400 Beaumont doctors on faculty.

Scope of Work

The position of Medical Physicist involves a variety of wide ranging responsibilities within Diagnostic Radiology including the evaluation, acceptance testing and annual testing of x-ray equipment, the development and overseeing of quality assurance programs, the education of the medical staff, radiology residents and radiation technologists, regulation and compliance, radiation safety, research and development, interaction with vendors and service personnel (both internal and external) and special projects. Coverage and travel between the alternate sites of care is required. Follows Beaumont philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times.

Qualifications

  • Required master's degree Physics, Medical Physics, or closely related discipline. (These are also required for eligibility for board certification.)
  • 1 year of relevant experience full-time radiation safety experience under the supervision of the individual identified as the Radiation Safety Officer on a Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) or Agreement State license that authorizes similar type(s) of use(s) of byproduct material. Preferred
  • Working knowledge of the NRC, State, FDA, FAA and DOT regulations for radiation safety. Required
  • 2 years of relevant professional experience. Required
