Job description

UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable full-time Pharmacist to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional pharmaceutical care, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our patients.
This position will work variable shifts including rotating weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage of the inpatient pharmacy.
UPMC has a robust new career ladder for Pharmacists! Pharmacists will be placed in the appropriate title based on experience by the recruitment team and Pharmacy management. The minimum hiring rate for a Pharmacist is $51.03.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with physicians and nurses to clarify unclear, illegible, or incomplete orders.
  • Provide drug information and educational programs to healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.
  • Utilize computer systems and technologies in the provision of pharmaceutical care.
  • Fill prescription orders in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Prepare and dispense intravenous admixture solutions using aseptic technique.
  • Interpret and evaluate physician orders and prescriptions to dispense appropriate medication dosages.
  • Identify and report suspected adverse drug reactions promptly.
  • Sustain the formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurements and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
  • Review and maintain patient medication records for allergies, drug interactions, and therapeutic duplications.
  • Organize daily operational duties and supervise pharmacy technicians, aides, and student interns.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements, professional standards, and hospital quality management policies.

Qualifications:
• Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
• B.S in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
• Required: Current licensure as a Pharmacist in practicing state
• Entry Level - no previous experience required; pharmacist experience preferred.
