Job description
The Rotational Engineer is an entry-level engineering position for newly graduated engineers. Rotating through each of the core business sectors of ABS, the rotational engineer will spend up to four months each working in engineering, survey, and technology. Through broader and more technically challenging work assignments, the incumbent will develop a thorough understanding of policies, methods, and procedures. Following the completion of each rotation, the engineer will be placed in a permanent role as either Engineer I or Surveyor I.
What You Will Do (under the supervision of an experienced Engineer during the engineering rotation):
The rotational program provides valuable opportunities to become immersed in three aspects of our business:
- Engineering
- Survey
- Technology
The combination of cross-functional work assignments and action learning projects help to develop the skills and capabilities needed to build your career path toward leadership. Program participants will receive feedback during the program in the form of evaluations at the midpoint and completion of each rotation. Rotations will be in the United States.

What You Will Need:
The rotational program is highly selective, and space is limited. To be considered, at a minimum, candidates must have:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, Materials Science) or maritime-related (Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture) field
- Strong interest in exploring assignments within our Class Operations: Engineering, Technology, and Survey
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic, ever-changing environment.
- A self-starter mentality committed to learning new things and taking ownership.
- Ability to interface with customers, which requires strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Academic achievement as demonstrated by an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher (3.0 preferred)
- Ability to multi-task without faltering on attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Prior internship experience in maritime or related industry strongly preferred.
- Current authorization to work in the U.S. or permanent resident.
- Ability to relocate to Spring, Texas (Greater Houston Area) for employment by July 2026.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of related technical disciplines required.
- Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals, including proficiency in programs such as Python and AutoCAD.
- The ability to identify, analyze and propose solutions to problems (i.e., the competence to demonstrate complex problem-solving skills).
- Good command of the English language.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Less than one-year of professional industry experience.
- Ability to learn the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.
Reporting Relationships:
The incumbent (Aspire) will report to a senior-level engineer or technical manager. This position has no direct reports.
