Naval Science Instructor - Wheeling High School
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Naval Science Instructor (NSI) is to provide instruction to students in the naval science curriculum and assist in the administration and management of the District NJROTC program. The NSI will be responsible for teaching both day and evening classes as well as supervising some field trips and other activities outside the school day.
Qualifications:
  • Must meet Navy NJROTC service requirements, and served in the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard or Marine Corps.
  • Must be certified by NSTC to administer the NJROTC program and to teach the Naval Science curriculum as a Naval Science Instructor.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively with other staff and the school and district administration.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Must project a positive image of the district to staff, students, parents and the community.
  • Must exhibit a positive attitude.
  • Experience in supervising, instructing and/or working with high school students desired.

Position Expectations:
  • Provides instruction to students in the naval science curriculum.
  • In collaboration with the building administration and Navy, plans and coordinates both on and off campus activities designed to educate the students about various aspects of citizenship, leadership and the Navy.
  • Supervises NJROTC programs and activities assigned by the SNSI.
  • Assists in the annual budget development process for the NJROTC program.
  • Assist in the administration and management of the NJROTC program.
  • Communicate with other building staff and coordinate efforts to assure the success of the NJROTC students in all their classroom and building activities and endeavors.
