Job description


Duties: Execute creative software solutions that are secure and high-quality to design, develop, and troubleshoot software. Architect and implement event-driven solutions. Build, deploy, and manage serverless functions in and containerized services. Model, query, and optimize data and relational stores. Define and expose APIs including authorization, throttling, and monitoring. Build dashboards and setup alerting mechanisms. Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems by writing automated test suites. Guide design proposals and implementation walkthroughs with external vendors and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture. Drive software modernization and public cloud migration across development teams and ring fenced teams. Remove blockers and impediments from development team to reduce friction, frequent pain points and time-to-market. Automate CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure provisioning, and operational runbooks. Perform code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and uphold coding standards and best practices on Cloud solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related field of study plus 1 year of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Web Developer or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Web Developer or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires one (1) year of experience with the following: Architecting and implementing event-driven solutions with Apache Kafka, AWS EventBridge, SNS, and SQS; Building, deploying, and maintaining serverless functions in AWS Lambda and containerized services on AWS ECS; Modeling, querying, and optimizing data in AWS DynamoDB and relational stores using SQL; Building dashboards and setting up alerting mechanisms using monitoring tools including Cloud Watch, Datadog, and Splunk; Applying Agile SDLC principles throughout the development lifecycle; Designing scalable, maintainable systems using application and infrastructure architecture disciplines; Building and operating microservices and J2EE-based applications; Wiring up application's components including services, repositories, and controllers declaratively via annotations, injecting dependencies via Dependency Injection, and applying Inversion of Control and Aspect-Oriented Programming using Spring framework; Rapid prototyping using Spring Boot using configurable components that can be included automatically based on classpath contents and application-properties; Defining interfaces to get basic create-read-update-delete methods and writing repository methods that enable Spring to generate SQL automatically; Structuring pages with header, main, article, footer for accessibility, and building robust forms with proper labels, required fields, and client-side validation using HTML; Defining CSS variables for colors and fonts, switching themes at runtime and applying media queries, and optimizing for mobile, tablet, desktop experiences; Calling RESTful APIs and handling JSON errors and retries using JavaScript; Stripping harmful input available in JavaScript using Promises and async/await to validate required formats; Building reusable UI units, binding data and events declaratively, and organizing feature modules; Configuring lazy-loaded routes using features in Angular; Building and dependency management using Maven and JSON-based REST API design; Deploying and managing applications on Pivotal Cloud Foundry; Defining interfaces extending Mongo Repository to get CRUD, paging, and sorting out of the box; Building data-processing pipelines including filter, group, and project with Aggregation; Executing SQL queries and updates, and calling stored procedures with JdbcTemplate for fine-grained control; Configuring the Hibernate Oracle dialect in application-properties and JpaRepository for entity CRUD; Writing human-readable scenarios in Gherkin including Given-When-Then to specify business behavior using Cucumber; Generating HTML, JSON and JUnit-style reports via Cucumber plugins that can be integrated into the CI dashboard; Writing test cases including white box testing using Junit to check for code coverage by using Annotate methods with JUnit 5 testing tools, and group related tests using Nested and Tag and checking responses leveraging built-in assertions; Configuring Jenkins, GitLab CI, and GitHub Actions to run unit, integration, and E2E tests on commits and PR; Planning and executing Black-Box, Functional, Manual, Performance, and Regression testing; Backend development with Java and Spring Boot and Python; Writing queries, optimizing joins, and indexing strategies using SQL; Writing Dockerfiles using optimized base images to minimize image size and attack surface; Building and tagging images via docker build and pushing to secure registries including Docker Hub, and Amazon ECR with least-privilege credentials; Creating ECS clusters by choosing the right compute option for workload and scalability requirements; Defining container specs and IAM task roles to grant scoped AWS permissions; Creating and managing feature branches, release branches, and hotfix branches using Git; Resolving merge conflicts, writing atomic commits, opening pull and merge requests, review diffs, comment inline, and enforce approvals via branch protection rules using Git; deploying pipelines in Jenkin files.
