Job description

The Recovery Coach assists in implementing/creating a recovery environment and acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of every individual along with sharing relevant personal experiences related to the “Recovery Process” for the benefit of individuals in recovery.

Significant Duties: Work as a member of the SUD, Substance Use Disorder team, providing peer support services to individuals. Recovery Coach relates to consumers with their own lived experience with substance use disorder.

  • Must adhere to and apply the Michigan Recovery Coach Code of Ethics to all duties.
  • Will be expected to provide direct services to participants receiving mental health services.
  • Individual and group facilitation and education related to recovery, community resources, community integration, activities of daily living, symptom management, and other topics that support self-determination.
  • Must be able to participate in a team environment with multidisciplinary staff members.
  • Timely completion of all assigned work is expected.
  • Will be expected to transport participants in agency vehicle.
  • Act as a role model for individuals seeking to achieve or maintain long term stability.
  • Attend and participate in regular team meetings and supervision as required.
  • Adhere to Agency and Program standards, philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Must be available for additional duties as assigned.
Employment Qualifications

Education: High school graduation

Experience:  

  1. Entry-level position.
  2. Prefer experience working with adults with mental health disabilities (developmental disabilities and/or serious mental illnesses)

Other Requirements:

  1. Ability to work with persons served and providers of mental health services. 
  2. Ability to write and speak effectively.
  3. Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license or ability to travel to and access assigned service sites.  

 Working Conditions:

  1. Works in office settings and in community-based service sites throughout the county.
  2. Required to travel within the county.
  3. Delivers care to persons served with a range of physical and mental health related disabilities.
