Certified Medical Coder

Location: Houston, TX 77024
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Duration: 13 Weeks

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder with strong expertise in outpatient Neurosurgery and Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of physician-service coding, ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and appropriate use of modifiers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate and timely coding for outpatient Neurosurgery physician services.
  • Code outpatient Evaluation & Management (E/M) services.
  • Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes accurately.
  • Assign appropriate CPT-4 procedure codes.
  • Apply modifiers appropriately based on documentation and coding guidelines.
  • Review clinical documentation to determine appropriate codes and ensure coding accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable coding guidelines and payer requirements.
  • Work effectively in a hybrid environment while maintaining productivity and accuracy standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of outpatient Neurosurgery coding experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of outpatient E/M coding experience.
  • Experience coding Neurology/Neurosurgery physician services.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • ICD-10-CM
    • CPT-4
    • Coding modifiers
  • Active certification in one of the following:
    • CPC
    • CCS
    • RHIT
    • CMC
    • CCA
Preferred Qualifications
  • EPIC experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and coding accuracy.
