Job description

Join our team and help keep our practice running smoothly behind the scenes.

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Medical Biller with Coding Experience to join our team. In this role, you'll play an important part in our revenue cycle by ensuring services are billed accurately, claims are processed efficiently, and outstanding balances are followed through to resolution.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working independently, and knowledgeable about medical billing, coding, and insurance requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare, submit, and follow up on electronic and paper medical claims
  • Review patient accounts and documentation to ensure accurate billing and coding
  • Ensure claims meet payer guidelines and applicable billing requirements
  • Investigate and resolve claim denials, rejections, and billing discrepancies
  • Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable and unpaid claims
  • Review EOBs and ERAs and accurately post insurance and patient payments
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits as needed
  • Communicate with insurance companies, patients, providers, and team members to resolve billing issues
  • Identify coding or documentation concerns that may affect reimbursement and communicate them to the appropriate staff
  • Maintain accurate billing records while protecting patient confidentiality
  • Assist with account reconciliation, audits, and other revenue-cycle activities as needed
  • Stay current on coding guidelines, payer requirements, and billing regulations
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in medical billing and coding is preferred
  • Previous experience in medical billing, coding, or healthcare revenue cycle
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS
  • Strong understanding of insurance claims processing and reimbursement
  • Experience using EHR/EMR systems and medical billing software
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, manage deadlines, and work independently
  • Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and patient confidentiality standards
