Scheduling Clerk / Advanced Surgery Scheduler - Summit Surgical Specialists

Position Details:

  • Hourly Base Rate: Starting at $19.05-26.67
  • Shift: Day Shift
  • Hours Per Week: 40 hours/week

Job Summary:

  • Schedules surgery, office and ancillary department appointments.
  • Completes prior authorizations and referrals.
  • Coordinates with various departments, physicians' offices and patients regarding procedures and tests.
  • Provides administrative and secretarial support to the surgery clinical staff.
  • Handles database management, record and file keeping and answers incoming calls.
  • Other job duties will include, but not be limited to clinical coding and patient billing.

Education/Licensing:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Skills adequate to perform the above.
  • Two years scheduling experience required in a physician clinic.
  • Two years of registration experience required.
  • Medical terminology preferred. Surgery scheduling and registration preferred.
  • Demonstrates attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality in dealing with others, in person, electronically and on the telephone.
  • Must have typing (55-60wpm), filing, ten-key and computer skills.
  • Experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel required.
  • Able to perform work accurately and within rigid time frames.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to navigate several computer applications and the ability to operate all technical office equipment.
