Connecticut GI, a division of GI Alliance, is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Meriden Care Center! We are the largest gastroenterology practice in the state of Connecticut with over 30 Care Centers and still growing. What You Will Do For Us:
  • Providing Remarkable Patient Experience: you will be responsible for rooming patients, obtaining vital signs (blood pressure, height, and weight) and documenting accurately utilizing Epic EMR.
  • Attention to Detail: Updating patient's medical history including updated medication list.
  • Team Player: Appropriately documents all patient phone calls and under the direction and guidance of the provider, informs patients of test results.
  • Versatility: Familiarity with prior authorization process.
  • Expertise: Asking appropriate triage questions when speaking with patients and accurately recording in Epic.

What We Are Looking For In You:
  • Graduated from an Accredited MA Program (preferred)
  • At least one full year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with patients, physicians and referring practices.
  • Have a broad knowledge of medical terminology (1+ year of healthcare experience).
  • EMR experience is ideal, Epic experience is a plus.
  • Have the ability to prioritize and multi-task and must be able to function in a fast paced, at times, stressful environment.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary Range: From $18.00 - $34.00 per hour, depending on experience

Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting.
Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Experience working in a Gastroenterology practice is preferred.
Requirements for Level I Status:
  • Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision.
  • Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.

Performance Requirements:
  • Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
  • Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
  • Skill in written and verbal communications.
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care practices and procedures.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
