Job Description:
Provide engineering support including planning, designing, overseeing fabrication, and fielding special fixtures and machinery for the testing of military weapon systems and equipment. He or she will incorporate state-of-the-art technology that requires adherence to established design standards, utilize existing or development new testing procedures, and instrumentation systems. Incumbent may be assigned independent responsibility for a project having the characteristics described above; serve as project engineer on a major, complex system that is part of a high visibility, high cost program. Depending on experience, may lead a team of engineers and technicians on efforts involving transducers, calibrations, new instrumentation systems. Exercises technical direction over engineering, technical test support, and other supporting personnel in actual conduct of tests in the field or under simulated conditions. Makes assignments, reviews work, and provides instructions to such personnel relating to their function. May develop process improvements include identifying, designing, developing, and implementing modification/upgrades of existing facilities and equipment and their operating systems. Other duties as assigned.
