Job description

Transmissions, Transfer Cases, and Differentials Rebuilder

The primary function of this position is to re-build transmissions, transfer cases, and differentials.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Getting direction from cell lead on priority of work.
  • Working with the tear down employees to identify units that need to be prepped for re-manufacturing.
  • Washing all core and component parts as part of the pre-build process.
  • Inspecting cores and components to determine if buildable. Informing shop foreman if core or parts are not buildable.
  • Evaluating core to determine appropriate critical components or any components that do not match quality standard.
  • Removing internal bearings and gears and identifying worn parts and disposing.
  • Adding all components that were selected to be replaced to WIP document.
  • Ensuring all inventoried components are listed on WIP document.
  • Delivering completed WIP doc to parts pullers for processing.
  • Starting next project while waiting for parts to be pulled and delivered.
  • Following build sheets or standard work instructions (as available) to complete all rebuild jobs.
  • Ensuring the finished unit is in good working order and cosmetically looks like.
  • Cleaning out scrap bin and emptying trash at work station as needed.
  • Informing maintenance when machinery breakdown occurs.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work space.
  • Other tasks as directed.
  • Conducting these responsibilities in a professional and timely manner.
