JOB SUMMARY_________________________________________________________________

Performs preventive maintenance and supervised repairs on Company vehicles and equipment.


MAJOR DUTIES___________________________________________________________________

Troubleshoots vehicle and equipment operations problems.

Diagnoses issues with the aid of a supervisor or Mechanic 3 and subsequently make repairs with supervision.

Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to standard schedules.

Adjusts, repairs or replaces parts and equipment under the supervision of a Mechanic 3 or Shop Supervisor.

Attends safety meetings and classes.

Maintains tools and equipment.

Maintains a safe and tidy shop.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Supervision of this position is the responsibility of the Maintenance Manager or his designated qualified representative.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION______________________________________________

Basic knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance.

Skills in the use of basic hand tools and equipment used in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

COMPLEXITY__________________________________________________________________________

The work consists of related vehicle and equipment maintenance duties. The variety of equipment to be maintained contributes to the complexity of the position.

The purpose of this position is to assist in the maintenance of company vehicles and equipment.

Certain basic skills and knowledge are required, Based on the applicants skills level and knowledge, it may be an upper or entry level position.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT_________________________________________________

The work is typically performed while intermittently standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching.

The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between color, and utilizes the sense of smell.

Work is typically performed in a vehicle repair shop.

The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, and irritating chemicals.

Work may be performed outdoors occasionally in cold, hot, or inclement weather.

Work requires the use of personal protective devices and equipment such as masks, goggles, and gloves.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS____________________________________________________________

Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent and sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with having a similar position for one or two years.
