The General Technician is an entry-level technician role responsible for supporting fire apparatus and heavy vehicle service operations through hands-on assistance with inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, parts replacement, shop organization, and daily operational readiness. This role exists to develop mechanically inclined individuals into skilled fire apparatus technicians while helping ensure emergency response vehicles are maintained safely, reliably, and professionally.

At Safe Industries, the General Technician role is the foundation for developing the next generation of skilled fire apparatus technicians. This role creates opportunities for motivated individuals to gain hands-on experience, build technical skills, and grow into advanced technician and leadership positions while supporting the critical equipment used by emergency responders.
General ConductThis position is expected to consistently demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism in all interactions. This includes maintaining respectful, appropriate communication, refraining from offensive or objectionable language, and avoiding negative or disparaging remarks about customers, vendors, competitors, or employees. The role requires the ability to remain composed, objective, and professional in all circumstances, ensuring that all duties and responsibilities are carried out with integrity, respect, and a commitment to representing the organization in a positive, professional manner.
Physical DemandsAbility to work in shop, yard, field, or service environments around vehicles, tools, machinery, and moving mechanical parts. This role requires physical activity necessary to inspect, diagnose, repair, and service equipment, which may include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, using tools, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials consistent with operational needs. Ability to lift or move materials and equipment up to 30 pounds independently and more with appropriate assistance or equipment.
