Job Description

EAG Laboratories is seeking a skilled Scientist to support our Atom Probe Tomography (APT) services. We work with leading-edge technology companies across a wide range of industries, helping to design and manufacture the electronics of tomorrow. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative, research-driven environment focused on precision and innovation. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Scientist to join our APT team and contribute to high-impact analytical services. You'll play a key role in specimen preparation, data collection, and analysis to support the APT service at EAG.  The job also requires the ability to work with high demanding semiconductor clients, meeting tight deadlines, and addressing challenging technical questions.

A typical day will consist of various activities, including:

  • Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality APT analysis to clients 
  • Prepare APT specimens using Focused Ion Beam (FIB) 
  • Operate the CAMECA LEAP instrument for data acquisition 
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance 
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors to minimize downtime 
  • Conduct data processing and reporting
  • Document and report analytical findings clearly and accurately 
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams on integrated microscopy projects 

This position works with companies that deal with defense-related activities and is subject to ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations). All considered applicants must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR:

  1. U.S. Citizen
  2. U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. "Green Card Holder")
  3. Political Asylee or Refugee

Work Schedule: 

Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

    Qualifications
    • MS or PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field 
    • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with Atom Probe Tomography 
    • Experience preparing samples using FIB for APT or TEM 
    • Skilled in handling delicate, chip-sized samples with precision tools 
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team 
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment 
    • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills 

     Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Experience with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) 
    • Familiarity with automated specimen fabrication using FIB/SEM systems 
    • Experience and knowledge with semiconductor technologies and processes 
    • Experience with APT data analysis using customized coding programs 

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).
    • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office or laboratory to access file cabinets, machinery, equipment etc.
    • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead.
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
    • Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.
    • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
