As a Junior Construction Material Lab Technician, you will help deliver accurate, highquality laboratory work that supports environmental, materials, and infrastructure projects across the region. You will be part of a team that values precision, safety, and innovation while helping shape healthier, more resilient communities.


Your Impact

In this role, you will:

  • Perform routine laboratory testing on construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt in accordance with standard methods and specifications.
  • Prepare, label, log, and manage samples to maintain accurate tracking and traceability.
  • Operate standard construction materials laboratory equipment, including balances, ovens, sieves, mixers, molds, and compression testing machines.
  • Accurately record observations and test results in laboratory logs, templates, and digital systems.
  • Follow health, safety, and quality procedures to maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment.
  • Support senior technicians and technologists by assisting with test setup, equipment cleaning, and general lab organization.

  • A college diploma or certificate in civil engineering technology, construction engineering, materials engineering, or a related field (completed or in progress).
  • Exposure to construction materials testing through academic labs, coop terms, internships, or entrylevel roles.

  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment with repetitive testing procedures and attention to detail.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs as part of routine laboratory duties.

  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $45,400 - $60,200
  • MB & ON: $41,400 - $57,000
  • NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $41,000 - $54,500
