ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - SUBSTATION (ENTRY LEVEL)

Location: Eden Prairie, MN | Hybrid
Schedule: Full-Time
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 (based on experience)

At EVS, you'll work alongside experienced engineers on substation projects that support utilities, renewable energy, and power delivery systems. We're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Electrical Engineer who is eager to learn, collaborate, and build a long-term career in substation engineering.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Assist in creating physical substation design drawings with guidance from experienced engineers.
  • Work closely with the drafting team to develop accurate engineering drawings and design packages.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations to support project designs.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), Basis of Design (BOD) documents, reports, and other engineering documentation.
  • Research and review applicable state, local, and industry design codes to support project compliance.
  • Learn and apply engineering principles to substation physical design challenges.
  • Develop an understanding of substation and switchyard layouts, equipment spacing requirements, and equipment functions.
  • Assist with equipment placement, electrical connection layouts, and design annotations.
  • Coordinate with civil, protection and controls, and other engineering disciplines to support project execution.
  • Work closely with senior engineers to build technical knowledge, solve engineering challenges, and gain increasing project responsibility.
  • Seek feedback, ask questions, and actively participate in your professional development.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting software preferred.
  • Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate engineering work.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn new technical concepts.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively within a collaborative engineering team.
