Job description

Our Marine organization is a trusted provider of innovative solutions for the worldwide boating and boat building industry, and we recently expanded our scope to lead the boating industry into an electrified future. Dometic has won numerous NMMA Innovation Awards over the years, and we are always striving for new ways to make boating easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
Dometic Marine's facility in Sparta, TN produces roto-molded fuel and ballast tanks and other roto-molded products for industrial applications. The site manufactures marine furniture, aluminum tanks, blow-molded portable tanks, and sanitation systems. This Sparta facility also produces marine mechanical steering, controls & cables.
We are on a journey of continuous growth - now looking for our next star - a passionate Production Technician. This position reports to the Production Supervisor and will work in Sparta, TN.
About the position
As Production Technician of the Sparta team, you will be involved in inspecting, assembling, and ensuring the quality of parts and components used in steering & controls and fuel systems. Tasks may include reading engineering prints, operating roto-molding equipment, measuring materials, light assembly work, machine set-up, machine operation, and complying with production schedules. The role also involves mold preparation, part inspection, reporting defects, and maintaining accurate production records. Flexibility to perform other assigned duties as needed is required.
Your Main Responsibilities
  • Inspect parts to ensure they are the correct parts for a particular unit.
  • Assure power and hand tools are operating properly.
  • Read and understand engineering prints and tolerances for particular parts.
  • Maintaining stocked bins of standard supplies at workstations.
  • Assemble components and small parts assemblies onto fuel or industrial tanks.
  • Inspect the accuracy of the assembled product for potential quality issues.
  • Identify, record, and report any scrapped product.
  • Understanding the correct operation of assigned machine.
  • Understanding and complying with the production schedule.
  • Ability to understand verbal and hands on instructions.
  • Add inserts and other molded in components to a mold.
  • Use measuring equipment to obtain proper powder weights.
  • Charging mold with correct weight and type of powder.
  • Keep all supplies and product material labeled and replenished
  • Inspection parts for conformance to specification.
  • Maintain an accurate count on the quantity of good parts and scrap parts.
  • May be assigned to perform other duties as requested.

Skills & Requirements
A suitable background would be a solid experience in manufacturing and Production as well as the following qualifications and experiences:
  • Entry Level Position
  • Must be able to read and write
  • Continuous sitting, walking, bending, crouching/stooping, lifting/lowering, climbing stairs, balance, kneeling, crawling, talking or hearing.
  • Continuous standing, reaching and pushing/pulling
  • Use of judgment to comply with instructions, prescribed routines and methods for identifying sub-standard products.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention to installation operation. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in hot environment.
  • Ability to use vibrating tools.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to work full-time on an ongoing basis.
  • Must use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Ability to understand and identify technical specifications on assembled product.
