Job description

Position Summary:
Entry level position where the primary role is to assists welders, fabricators/fitters and finishers with weld preparation, manufacturing of components, fit-up of assemblies, and finishing components.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Handles raw materials by retrieving stock from racks, shearing, breaking and cutting the stock to size, duburring the edges in preparation for fabrication.
  • Measures materials properly to be cut.
  • Trains with an experienced welder or fabricator using on-the-job training to learn technique of welds and fabrication methods.
  • Ensures that work areas are clean and orderly.
  • Complies with all Safety rules and regulations, including:
    • Compliance with all written safety procedures, policies, and work practices.
    • Reports all incidents including injuries and illnesses, near misses, property damage, chemical spills and fires to a Team Lead immediately.
    • Participates in safety meetings, training, and committees.
    • Reports all hazards, unsafe conditions or unsafe behaviors to a Team Lead.
    • Intervenes with co-workers when unsafe behaviors are observed.
    • Conducts required inspections
  • Performs Duties as assigned by Team Lead.

Education & Experience:
A High School degree or GED is preferred. A strong mechanical aptitude with a high degree for attention to detail and quality is a definite plus. The Successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
