Job description


  • Inspect and audit in accordance with work instructions blueprints, specifications, Digital Design Media (DDM) and/or management directives to determine product acceptance by visual examination, special inspection instruments, gages, tools or methods (Nital Etch Inspection, Liquid Penetrant Inspection, Mag Particle Inspection), the presence of internal and external indications such as cracks, defects, flaws, etc. in accordance with specifications and proper standards of workmanship.
  • Inspect parts, assemblies and materials for defects associated with finishes, coatings, and processes such as but not limited to the following: plating, painting, heat treating, and processing.
  • Completes process checks.
  • May be required to use portable equipment, work aids, devise holding devices and work aids necessary in the performance of this job.
  • Maintains adequate and proper records and prepares reports as required.
  • Perform preliminary and/ or final disposition function in accordance with specifications and standards.
  • Sets and calibrates Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) equipment and similar tools/ equipment as required to meet test specifications and settings.
  • Inspector will review the overall part condition and aesthetics.
  • Effective level of written and verbal skills to sufficiently communicate information.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team as well as assist inspection personnel as required.

Tools & Equipment Used:
  • Inspector's hand and marking tools, material-testing equipment such as Magnaflux, Rockwell, Zyglo, Brinell, etc. Precision measuring instruments and special testing devices and equipment, etc. as necessary.
  • Utilization of electronic systems and data administration such as: Electronic Planning, CAMS, First Article Inspections, SAP, Enovia, VQM, surveillance systems, time keeping systems, calibration systems, etc.

Experience & Other Requirements:
  • Three (3) years related inspection experience including finishes, coatings and processes.
  • Three (3) years' experience as a certified Level II Liquid Penetrant Inspector and a Magnetic Particle Inspector per NAS 410 or equivalent and able to re-certify at Bell.
  • New employees must re-certify prior to completing their probationary period at Bell.
  • Upgrading employees must re-certify prior to completing their upgrade trial period.
  • Must be able to provide documentation of formal training and experience hours.

This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
