About this Opportunity:

The Mechatronics Operator is responsible for safely operating automated manufacturing equipment while ensuring the highest standards of quality, productivity, and equipment performance. This role combines traditional machine operation with entry-level technical responsibilities, including first-level troubleshooting, machine resets, basic mechanical adjustments, and routine preventive maintenance. Mechatronic Operators serve as the first line of support for automated production cells by resolving routine equipment issues and minimizing downtime. More complex mechanical, electrical, PLC, or automation issues are escalated to Mechatronic Technicians.  


Responsibilities: 

  • Safely operate automated assembly equipment and production cells in accordance with work instructions and standard operating procedures. 
  • Consistently achieve production, quality, and efficiency targets. 
  • Monitor equipment performance and respond to routine machine alarms and faults. 
  • Perform basic machine resets and recover equipment from minor stoppages. 
  • Perform approved Mechatronic Operator level mechanical adjustments including sensor alignment, fixture adjustments, brush station adjustments, deburring station adjustments and routine machine resets
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance activities and equipment inspections. 
  • Replace worn or damaged tooling and pre-stage replacement tools during scheduled downtime. 
  • Perform visual inspections and basic dimensional gauging using approved inspection equipment. 
  • Prepare quality samples, including weld penetration sections when required. 
  • Complete all production documentation accurately, including product traceability records and MES labor reporting. 
  • Maintain product identification and traceability throughout the manufacturing process. 
  • Identify quality concerns and perform approved process adjustments when appropriate. 
  • Monitor machine performance and immediately report recurring equipment abnormalities 
  • Escalate complex mechanical, electrical, controls, or automation issues to Mechatronic Technicians. 
  • Support Group Leads with workflow, training, and production activities as needed. 
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, equipment reliability, and productivity.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area utilizing 5S principles. 
  • Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, quality standards, and work instructions. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude with an interest in learning automated manufacturing equipment. 
  • Ability to safely operate production machinery and learn multiple manufacturing processes. 
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to perform minor mechanical adjustments using hand tools. 
  • Ability to interpret work instructions, procedures, and production documentation. 
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and inspection equipment. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality. 
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate technical issues. 
  • Willingness to learn and develop additional mechatronic and technical skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED required. 
  • Technical school education, vocational training, or coursework in manufacturing, mechatronics, industrial technology, or a related field preferred. 
  • Previous manufacturing, assembly, machine operation, or automation experience preferred. 
  • Experience operating automated manufacturing equipment is a plus. 
  • Basic mechanical maintenance or troubleshooting experience is desirable. 
  • Ability to safely lift, stand, bend, and perform the physical requirements of a manufacturing environment. 
  • Willingness to work overtime and support production schedules as required.
