Applied Materials is seeking recent college graduates for the position of Supplier Quality Engineer. Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer (E2, Entry-Level) supports the development, monitoring, and continuous improvement of supplier quality performance across Applied Materials' supply base. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to ensure components, materials, and processes meet defined quality, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.

In this position, the engineer applies data-driven quality methods to analyze supplier performance, participates in supplier audits and assessments, and supports root cause analysis and corrective action activities. The role provides hands-on exposure to supplier quality systems, manufacturing process controls, and structured continuous improvement methodologies.

The Supplier Quality Engineer contributes to defining quality requirements, evaluating process capability, reducing risk, and improving yield to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations. The role also includes exposure to additive manufacturing technologies, where the engineer helps integrate advanced fabrication processes into the supply base while ensuring robust quality controls are in place.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in establishing, tracking, and refining supplier quality performance metrics to evaluate and improve supplier outcomes.
  • Participate in the development of dashboards and reports to communicate supplier quality status to management and cross-functional teams.
  • Support supplier audits and assessments by incorporating metric-based evaluations and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Help conduct root cause analysis and corrective action activities using data and performance metrics.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including procurement, engineering, and manufacturing to align quality objectives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the supply base using trend and data analysis.
  • Build professional relationships with suppliers to foster collaboration and share best practices.
  • Develop additive manufacturing processes using 3D printing and advanced fabrication for high-performance components, including defining quality protocols and identifying improvement opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (preferred: Welding Engineering).
  • Internship or project experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, machining, or supply chain (preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with interest in metric-driven quality methods.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (ISO, etc.) is a plus.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
