Job Title: CNC Programmer and Machine OperatorJob DescriptionThis role focuses on programming and operating CNC equipment, including a shear and rebar bender, in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will interpret technical drawings, create accurate bar lists, and program machines using CNC software and G-code. The position requires strong math skills, confidence with computers, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with another operator in a designated area of the plant.
Responsibilities
- Operate the shear and rebar bender safely and efficiently in a designated area of the plant.
- Review and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine required bar sizes and quantities.
- Create detailed lists of bar sizes and specifications based on drawings and production requirements.
- Program CNC machines using G-code and related CNC programming tools to produce required parts.
- Use vector and wireframe CNC programming software, preferably VCarve Pro, to prepare and optimize cutting and bending paths.
- Work with DXF files and other CAD-based formats to import, modify, and prepare designs for machine operation.
- Convert measurements accurately between decimals and fractions to ensure precise programming and production.
- Monitor machine operations, make adjustments as needed, and verify output against specifications and drawings.
- Use hand tools and production equipment to support machine setup, adjustments, and basic maintenance.
- Collaborate with another operator in the same area to coordinate workflow and meet production timelines in a fast-paced setting.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in a manufacturing environment where equipment, materials, and conditions can be dusty or dirty.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment, while working in and around manufacturing and outdoor areas.
Essential Skills- Proven experience operating CNC machines, such as shears, rebar benders, or CNC routers, in a production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and related documentation.
- Strong math skills, including accurate conversion between decimals and fractions.
- Proficiency with G-code and familiarity with DXF files for CNC programming.
- PC proficiency with the ability to navigate and use computer systems confidently, not just at a basic level.
- Experience with vector and wireframe CNC programming software, preferably VCarve Pro.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software and CNC-related tools, such as AutoCAD or similar applications.
- Demonstrated skill in machine operation, including setup, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated work style with the ability to manage tasks and stay productive with minimal supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience with CNC routers and broader CNC machine operation beyond shear and rebar bender equipment.
- Background in production or manufacturing environments where output, quality, and safety are closely managed.
- Familiarity with hand tools and general mechanical aptitude to support machine operation and minor adjustments.
- Previous exposure to CAD-based workflows, including importing, editing, and preparing files for CNC use.
- Comfort working with both vector and wireframe design concepts in CNC programming software.
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to learn new software and adapt to digital workflows quickly.
- A proactive and self-directed approach to learning new equipment, tools, and processes.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing environment where you will work primarily in one area of the plant alongside another operator. The work is fast paced and involves regular interaction with CNC machines, including a shear and rebar bender, as well as computer-based programming tools and CAD software. The environment can be dusty or dirty, and you may have access to outside areas as part of your daily activities. You will use PCs, CNC programming software such as VCarve Pro, CAD tools like AutoCAD, and various hand tools and production equipment. Appropriate safety gear is required, including steel-toed boots that rise above the ankle and a hard hat, reflecting the industrial nature of the facility.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $32.00/hr.
