JOB SUMMARY

The Junior Maintenance Technician supports the maintenance and engineering functions of the facility by assisting with the repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of production and facility equipment within a commercial printing manufacturing environment. This entry-level role is designed to provide hands-on training under the direction of Engineering to develop skills in mechanical, electrical, and equipment maintenance. A primary responsibility of this position is to maintain a safe work environment by strictly following safety procedures, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with company safety policies.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Engineering with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment, including printing presses, bindery equipment, and related machinery.
  • Support preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and minimize production downtime.
  • Strictly follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations when performing maintenance tasks.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures and other safety protocols when servicing equipment.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards to Engineering or management immediately.
  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, parts replacement, and equipment adjustments while maintaining safety at all times.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and assist with resolving equipment issues on the production floor in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Participate in equipment inspections to identify safety concerns or maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation of repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain tools, parts inventory, and ensure the maintenance work area is clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Properly use and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in safety training and contribute to a culture of workplace safety.
  • Support facility maintenance needs as directed by Engineering.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical training in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, or electrical systems preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and a strong willingness to learn equipment repair and troubleshooting.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and following established procedures.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work collaboratively with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces when necessary.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to mechanical equipment, moving parts, noise, and production activity.
  • Strict adherence to safety procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times when performing maintenance tasks.
