Job description

GENERAL DEFINITIONS OF WORK
Mowing Maintenance Crew Workers are responsible for mowing, weed eating, grounds keeping, litter pickup, and other tasks as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for mowing, weed eating, and grounds keeping.
  • May be assigned to litter pick up duties.
  • Follows written and verbal instructions from the crew leader and clients.
  • Loads and unloads equipment and tools into work vehicles.
  • Drives work vehicles to and from sites.
  • Adheres to all safety precautions

DRIVER'S LICENSE
Valid TN driver's license and a clear driving record are strongly desired.
OR
Ability to obtain a Tennessee Driver's License within 30 to 60 days from hire.
EDUCATION
Minimum 8th Grade education.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in grounds and landscaping, maintenance, painting, and general carpentry preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT, AND REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS
Incumbent must be capable of performing laborious tasks over extended periods of time. Incumbents are exposed to dangerous equipment and to heat, cold, rain, noise, and other adverse conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to heat, sun, humid conditions, cold, wet, and/or fumes, dust, or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
The Public Worker Director to assess the type(s) of reasonable accommodations which may be necessary to allow the individual to perform the essential functions of a this position and to provide such necessary reasonable accommodations to a qualified individual with a disability, provided that nothing herein shall be construed to require the provision of reasonable accommodations if doing so will impose an undue hardship on the employing agency or a direct threat to the safety of himself/herself or others.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a great entry-level opportunity with the City of Lebanon. This seasonal position will not exceed 6 months. Seasonal employees are permitted to apply for regular, full-time positions within the City of Lebanon during their seasonal employment, provided they meet the position qualifications.
