Job description

We Are Seeking Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Custodian I. This posting is to fill two positions: One position is a 30-hour fully benefited position, One position is a 30-hour, benefited, limited-term position approved through June 30, 2027, with the potential to extend.

This role requires afternoon, evening, and weekend hours. In addition, this position will be expected to work some holidays and/or fill in for staff shortages during the week. Some periodic flexibility is a must.

The Custodian I reports to the Parks Field Supervisor or Grounds Maintenance Worker III. The primary job duties of this position include: Performs routine maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of equipment, park spaces, athletic fields, courts, and other items related to assigned area, including trash and debris removal, graffiti removal, and litter pick up. Operates equipment, machinery, and/or tools in the maintenance and support of assigned areas.

This includes preparations of the athletic fields, utilizing specialized equipment for games and practices Sets up, monitors, and inspects assigned areas, facilities, or equipment and identifies problems and necessary repairs. Initiates actions, and performs basic repair and maintenance on park structures, irrigation systems, athletic fields, landscaping, and open spaces. Monitors inventory levels of equipment, supplies, and materials.

Here are some position requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.). Six months of previous experience and/or training involving custodial work. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work

Valid Arizona Driver's License. This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities KNOWLEDGE OF: Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations and/or ordinances. National Fire Protection Association standards.

SKILL IN: General maintenance techniques, safe equipment practices and general cleaning practices. Basic computer skills and ability to use phone applications. Cleaning and maintenance of facilities.

Operation and safe transportation of equipment such as deckmowers, utility vehicles, tractors, and attachments. Operation of power tools such as chain saw, stump grinder, auger, jackhammer, hedge trimmer etc. Working in a team environment.
