Job Summary
This position is a Systems Engineer for the Hosting Services team supporting the growing technical environment which provides critical services to Augusta University. The Systems Engineer is responsible for core infrastructure services such as PowerStore, VMWare, Data Domain backup services, Zabbix monitoring services, Office 365, on premise Exchange, Active Directory, Citrix XenApp, Box and Windows servers. The current Windows environment consists of 375 servers. This position is critical to the management of the current infrastructure and to support the numerous projects currently on the roadmap for deployment. The continuous release of upgrades and security patches must be applied in a timely manner to avoid loss of functionality or potential vulnerabilities to the data and applications residing in this ecosystem functionality or potential vulnerabilities to the data and applications residing in this ecosystem.
Responsibilities
The duties include but are not limited to:
MONITOR INFRASTRUCTURE SYSTEMS: Monitor infrastructure systems to ensure system integrity and availability, applying patches and upgrades as needed. These systems include CAS, Zabbix, VMWare VSphere, and Citrix Netscaler, among others.
CROSS FUNCTIONAL PROJECTS : Using our ticketing system, ServiceNow, will self-assign tickets and resolve the tickets in an efficient and timely manner.
PROJECTS : Work on various projects as assigned
OTHER : Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of Information Technology experience in system engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the Augusta University environment. Experience with Powerstore, VMware, and authentication services such as CAS. Experience dealing with vendors and contractors. Experience in Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, VMware, CAS/Shibboleth authentication and PowerStore.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Experience dealing with vendors and contractors.
Understanding of change and configuration management principles.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Experience maintaining large quantities of physical and virtual server.
Understanding of Privileged Access Manager PAM solutions and associated tools.
Practical scripting experience in automating tasks and processes in multiple languages (bash, ksh, python, Puppet, etc.)
Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, 7, and 8; Red Hat Satellite Server, RHEL High Availability (Clustering); and RHEL authentication using SSSD
Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, VMware, CAS/Shibboleth authentication, and PowerStore.
