Job description

Five Guys is hiring a part-time kitchen crew member. Earn $17-$20/hour when you include tips - that's $15.50/hour base + $2-$4/hour in shared tips on every shift you work.
This isn't a typical fast food gig. This is a real kitchen. Five Guys does everything fresh - hand-formed burgers, hand-cut fries, made to order every time. The work is harder, the kitchen is hotter, and the standards are higher than most restaurant jobs. If that sounds like a challenge you want, keep reading.
Benefits and Perks
Pay: $15.50/hour + tips that put your real earnings at $18-$20/hour
Flexible Schedule: We build your schedule around school, sports, your other job, or whatever you've got going on
Free Meals: Free meal every shift (lil' burger or sandwich + small fry or milkshake). 60% off anything beyond that.
Paid Training: Structured training from Day 1 - you learn every station with a dedicated trainer. No sink-or-swim.
Career Growth: People who show up and perform move up. We promote from within.
What You'll Do
As a kitchen crew member at Five Guys, your day-to-day includes:
• Working the grill - hand-forming and cooking burgers to order
• Running the fryer - hand-cutting potatoes and frying fresh batches
• Assembling burgers and sandwiches with accuracy and speed
• Working the register and handling cash and card transactions
• Restocking ingredients, cleaning stations, and prepping throughout your shift
• Following Five Guys' specific food safety and quality standards on every order
This is a real kitchen - fryers, grills, and grease. You will get hot. You will get messy. If you want to stay clean at work, this isn't the job.
When the rush hits, orders stack up fast and every burger is made to order. You move quickly or the line falls behind. When it's slow, you clean, prep, and restock. There is no standing around.
What We're Looking For
You don't need kitchen experience. You don't need a stacked resume. Here's what actually matters:
Reliable: You show up on time, every shift. If something comes up, you call before your shift - not during.
Honest: When you mess up, you own it. No excuses, no blaming.
Coachable: You take direction without getting defensive. You learn our way.
Tough: The kitchen is hot, fast, and loud. You push through the hard shifts, not just the easy ones.
Team Player: You help without being asked. Dishes, trash, wiping stations - because the team needs it.
Physical Requirements
• Stand and move for 4-8 hours per shift
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Work around hot oil, open flames, grills, and heavy equipment
• Work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
Schedule and Hours
This is a part-time position. Hours will typically be 8-15 per week (1-3 shifts). We cannot guarantee more than that, and this role is not a path to full-time hours.
If you need 25+ hours per week to pay your bills, this isn't the right fit. This role works best for students, people with another job, or anyone who genuinely wants a few solid shifts a week.
• Available at least 2-3 days per week, including at least one weekend day
• Open to closing shifts
• Willing to stay up to 30 minutes past your scheduled end if the shift needs it
• If your availability is changing soon (new semester, sports, second job) - just tell us upfront
How to Apply
Our hiring process is simple:
Step 1: Quick screen - a few questions about availability and basics
Step 2: Real conversation - we talk about your work history and how you handle real situations. We're honest with you and expect the same.
Step 3: Background check before any offer is finalized
Step 4: If hired, you start a 30-day structured training program with a dedicated trainer
Five Guys is harder work than most fast food jobs.
The kitchen is hotter, the standards are higher, and we don't cut corners. We'd rather have 5 great crew members than 10 who can't handle it. If you take pride in doing things right and want a part-time restaurant job that actually respects you - apply today.
