IMEG is hiring an Architectural Lighting New Graduate in Denver, CO. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience as you assist senior lighting design staff with a wide variety of design and documentation tasks, including luminaire selections, lighting layouts, illuminance targets, client presentations, and design documentation in Revit or, less frequently, AutoCAD.

You will support lighting calculations, layouts, mockups, and project coordination with electrical engineering teams, architects, interior designers, lighting representatives, and manufacturers. The team's work is active across hospitality, mixed use, education, and MEP-related environments, with a lighting-first focus on high-visibility interiors, amenity spaces, and premium residential work.

What You'll Do

Assist senior lighting design staff with design and documentation tasks for lighting projects

Determine appropriate design standards and illuminance and uniformity targets based on IES recommendations

Assist in selecting luminaire options and specifying them in luminaire schedules

Create client presentation graphics using PowerPoint, Bluebeam, InDesign, Photoshop, AGI32, and similar tools to illustrate design concepts

Assist in creating luminaire layouts and performing illuminance calculations using AGI32

Draft lighting layouts, basic control sensors, lighting control sequence of operations, and zone schedules in Revit or, less frequently, AutoCAD

Coordinate with electrical engineering teams on circuiting, emergency lighting, and energy code documentation, including ComCheck

Coordinate with luminaire and controls representatives for product information and pricing

Correspond and coordinate with interior designers and architects throughout the project

Attend project job site visits to review existing conditions or luminaire and controls installations

Assist in creating and attending luminaire mockups in the office or at a project job site

Actively contribute to the local section of the illuminating engineering society

What You'll Bring

Required Education

Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Architectural Engineering, or Theatrical Lighting Design, or Theatrical Lighting Design, Interior Design or equivalent required

Required Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications

Knowledge of industry standard engineering software; Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Blue Beam, and AG132 Lighting

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges

Basic knowledge in the use of BIM software

Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Preferred

Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred

State of Colorado Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 per year

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
