Job Description:

Summary:

The Library Communications& AdministrationAssistant helps with various aspects ofthe librarycommunications team's daily functions and related projects, while also supporting the functions of the Office of the University Librarian. This position is intended to support the growth and advancement of students' communications skills while working in a professional office environment.

This position willgenerally workbetweenthe hours of 9AM - 5PM.There will be intermittent opportunities for workoutsidesof these hours when Library events fall outside of these hours, however theseadditionalhours will never berequiredand will only be filled by the incumbent as their schedule allows.

Essential Functions:

  • Developing content for library social media platforms&identifying opportunities for the library to engage with our audiences.

  • Answering phone calls, greeting visitors to the Office of the University Librarian, &maintainingpresence at the administrative front desk.

  • Assisting the Budget Coordinator with accounting records &maintainingoffice inventory through routine supply organization & ordering.

  • Assistingwith the planning, set up,&execution/ logistical supportof student facing and internal library events.

  • Printingposters&communication/event materials, filing, copying, & data entry.

  • Participating in periodic team meetingsandassistingwith special projects as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • Up to 20 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $18.40 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be available to work 8 - 10 hours/week, minimum of 2 - 3 hours per shift asdeterminedby operational needs.

  • Experience in developing graphics for social media, video/media production, or related skills / experience within the Communication & Public Relations fields.

  • This position requires a person with the ability to communicate with professionals at all levels and with the public.

  • Applicants must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Previousexperience with marketing and communicationsororganizing and running eventsin astudentleadershipor professional environment.

  • Demonstratedexpertisein social media management, graphic design, video production, or marketing & outreach strategy.

  • The ideal applicant will alsodemonstrateinitiative, the ability to prioritize, and be attentive to detail. They should be organized, able to see projectsthrough tocompletion, and have a self-motivated desire to strengthen their skills andparticipatein opportunities to broaden their professional experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • This position is open to students with and without a Federal Work Study award.
